Stretch Mark Prevention

by Jared Dean

In order to prevent your body from getting stretch marks you need to take care of your skin and health.  Here are some stretch mark prevention tips:

* Drink a lot of water.  Keep your body properly hydrated.  When you body is hydrated the skin has more elasticity and is less susceptible to stretching.  Stay away from anything caffeinated such as sodas, teas, and coffee.  Caffeine is a diuretic and should be avoided.

* Get foods full of Vitamins A and E.  These vitamins are full of antioxidants that protect your skin from free radicals.  Free radicals cause cell mutation and damage the collagen of the skin causing it to lose its elasticity.  Both vitamins protect the epidermis layers of the skin and help to keep the skin hydrated.    By applying vitamins A and E to the skin you keep your skin moisturized so that stretch marks do not occur.

Editor’s note: “The Verseo Stretch Mark Vanishing Milk is a product that is clinically tested to prevent and reduce stretch marks.  It is full of vitamins A and E.”

* Try to avoid rapid weight gains or losses.  When you increase or decrease your weight too quickly you increase your chances of stretch marks.  This is particularly important to body builders and pregnant women.  Pregnant women need to stay within 20 – 40 lbs of their ideal weight.

* Exercise.  Exercise increases the blood flow to your skin which helps maintain skin tone and elasticity.

* Get a massage.  Massaging the skin is good for preventing dryness of skin and it promotes blood circulation that helps stimulate new cell growth.  Better blood circulation causes the sweat glands to be stimulated which release harmful toxins from the body that could damage the skin if not removed.
