Stretch Mark Removal Surgery
There are two main stretch mark removal surgeries performed today: laser stretch mark removal and abdominoplasty known as the “tummy tuck”.
Laser stretch mark removal is a procedure where a beam of light is directed into the effected area. The light stimulates new collagen growth and disintegrates old skin cells and scar tissue.
This procedure can take many treatments and can be painful. Treatment can take anywhere from a few days to weeks depending on how bad the area is effected.
After the procedure the skin can be tender and red. In some cases blisters or burns occur but most are temporary.
In some cases the stretch marks cannot be removed completely and are only made less visible. It depends on how deep the tearing of the skin is.
The cost of laser stretch mark removal surgery can start as little as $200 for a single procedure and rise in price substantially from there. In many cases multiple procedures are necessary for complete removal of stretch marks.
The second form of stretch mark removal surgery is Adominoplasty sometimes called the “tummy tuck”.
It helps remove excess skin and stretch marks on the lower abdomen. It also helps to tighten up the area of the skin below the belly button. The surgery can take from 2-6 hours based upon the procedure.
Total or partial sedation may be used depending on the procedure. During the recovery time you will experience pain and discomfort and soreness and swelling. Heavy activity is also to be avoided during this time. There is often bruising and completed recovery could take anywhere from 3-6 months.
The cost of tummy tuck procedures can range anywhere from $4000 – $20,000 on average. This cost applies to pre and post-operative care, anesthesia, medicines, and facility fees in addition to the surgical procedure.
